Our sustainability targets

Climate footprint halved, a range designed for the circular economy, and traceability from fibres to garments. These are some of our key sustainability targets.

At the Kappahl Group, we are committed to actively transitioning our business to a sustainable model. In the future, clothes will be as essential as they are today, and we want to be part of that future. The need for clothes must be balanced with the needs of the natural environment.

Reducing our impact on the environment is an ongoing commitment and we will continue to drive the move towards sustainable consumption and a more inclusive and fairer society. We will design clothes that can last longer and be produced with fewer adverse human and environmental impacts.

Our goals

To achieve our sustainability targets, we are focusing on these three key areas; climate and environment, social sustainability, and transparency and commitment.

We will reduce our emissions to align with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. We seek to ensure safe, healthy and fair working conditions and that people are treated with dignity and respect across our supply chain. In addition, it is important for us to be transparent about our journey towards a sustainable and circular fashion experience.

  • By 2025, all of our garments will be made from materials with a lower environmental impact than conventional materials.
Progress: We are currently at 86 per cent.

  • By 2026, we will have full traceability in our range, from fibres to the finished garments.
Progress: Our range of jeans is fully traceable today. Our supplier list has been published online since 2013.

  • By 2026, at least half of our range will be manufactured for a circular economy.
Progress: We are currently at 19 per cent.

  • By 2032, our climate footprint will have been reduced by 50.4 per cent, with 2022 as the base year.*
Progress: Between 2022 and 2023, we reduced our emissions by 15 per cent.

  • By 2040, the Kappahl Group will have net zero carbon emissions.*

* Our targets are based on what the latest climate science says is necessary to meet the goal of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The targets have been validated by the Science Based Target initiative

By 2040, we will be climate neutral.
